Dear Family & Friends,

Welcome to my website! Thanks for stopping by. I thought this would be a creative way for us to share our 2009 highlights with all of you.

We started 2009 here in Maui & I enjoyed my 42nd (OMG!) birthday here in Maui, which is a gift in itself!

While here in Maui we enjoyed visiting with Dave’s son Paul & his wife Wendy. They introduced us to a new meditation practice called Kunlun Bliss & it is incredibly blissful. We immediately invited the instructor, Mary, to come to Salt Spring & do a workshop,

The beginning of 2009 was otherwise quite quiet. I took a break from workshop organizing and so January & February were otherwise uneventful. Oh, yes we brought back a little bit of Maui with us when we threw a Murder Mystery dinner party & it was staged as a Luau in Maui! We took inspiration from my favourite restaurant. It was a barrel of laughs & giggles as guests threw themselves into their characters, made fun of themselves & each other. It was so much fun in fact; we have decided that we should make it an annual event. The theme for the Murder Mystery dinner 2010 has not yet been decided.

In March Ger Lyons came back for a 3 day workshop on Salt Spring Island. I didn’t plan to attend as I had done 14 workshops with him & felt that I was had completed my work with him. I was surprised to find that I simply could stay away. I was compelled to attend and was astonished that I experienced a major breakthrough and deeper more profound awareness. I realized that this transformational work is much like my own journey of self-discovery: I will never be done with it, it will continue to unfold and evolve with me!

Also in March, Brandy & Alan got married! On the first day of spring they celebrated their love in a small beautiful ceremony in our friend’s magical garden. We love to tease Brandy & Alan; they are two of the funniest people we know. All joking aside, it was a very precious day to see two such wonderful people declare their love & begin the rest of their lives together as husband & wife. I am such a romantic.

In April, I brought Mary Pirtle from Maui to teach the Kunlun Bliss workshop on Salt Spring Island. A dozen or so people enjoyed the ancient teachings and the powerful bliss of this simple meditation practice. Afterward we continued to hold weekly meditations in our home.

In June Dave & his son Dakota enjoyed a camping trip up to Strathcona Park.

The summer was filled with lots of travel as I drove up to 100 Mile House (about 4 hours north of Vancouver) to spend more time with my stepdaughter Cambria. I put as many miles on my Xterra in four months as I usually do in 1 year. I love being a step mom & am thrilled that I have been able to spend more time with Cambria. Here is Cambria with her horse Timmy.

In August I managed to get away to Ottawa for a very quick trip. My parents celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary & my Mom had her 65th birthday. I was happy delighted to be able to connect with my old friends Sue Gorman (Desmarais) & Christine Savard.

Also in August Ger came back to Victoria & I attended as much as I possibly could, going deeper into the astonishing world of endless self-discovery and personal growth & awareness.

In September, Dave officially started his new building project. He is building a custom home on Salt Spring Island for a lovely couple. As most of his projects do, this house will take between 12-18 months to complete.

In October, on one of my visits up to see Cambria, I feel in love with a little puppy. I wasn’t planning to adopt a puppy but there is something about this little girl. Within a few minutes of holding her she just felt like my dog. When I called Dave to tell him that I wanted to get a puppy he responded “Well, I have spoken to the cats & they do not think it is a good idea”. I had to convince all three of them & in the end I did!

I also took two Community Educations classes. One was “Women Writing Memoir” and the other was “Collage & Painting”. I cannot express my joy I experienced taking these classes. I am loving the massive flow of creative expression that has opened up since I started these classes. I have started my book & am already planning my first series of art pieces. Keep your eyes open for my first art show.

In November I drove up to Kaleden, just outside of Penticton, where Cambria had just moved to. She had picked up my wee puppy & I went to bring her back home to Salt Spring. It became immediately obvious that her name was Zoë. Every single time I went to call her, Zoë just came out! Having a puppy is a very intense & all consuming job. I had many moments of “what the heck was I thinking?” Zoë is a very big handful, exuberant, feisty and really energetic. I keep joking that I have met my match in a puppy & it is actually true.

December 2009 began with me back in the organizing position and bringing Ger to Salt Spring for a one night only workshop in between his Edmonton & Victoria dates. We were glad to have him back, even if it was just one night.

Well I can honestly say that I ended off 2009 with a bang! Except it wasn’t the kind of bang I was planning or hoping for. I was driving back from dropping off Zoë at Cambria’s and I was driving over a mountain pass, Sunday Summit, about 3000 feet up. I hit some ice under the compact snow and my truck was gone. I swerved & corrected & swerved again, hit a hydro pole, flipped onto the front end, then onto the hood & came to rest on the passenger side, facing the wrong direction about 20 feet off the road in the snow. My Xterra was a total write off. The amazing news is that I am fine. Had a little bit of a stiff neck but that is all.

I made it back to Salt Spring with only one day left to get ready for our trip and on December 10th we flew to Maui where we are spending the next 5 weeks relaxing on the beach. I always say that there is nothing you cannot cure with a few weeks on the beach! Kidding aside, we are so grateful to be here & Dave will get a much needed rest as he has been working twice as hard to get everything completed so we could get away.

Plans for 2010:

Dave & are I planning much of the same for 2010.

We feel very blessed & grateful everyday for this wonderful life we share.

I guess I will be shopping for a new vehicle when I get home L I am not complaining, but I really loved my Xterra! Not sure where to begin with getting another car.

Otherwise, Dave will return to the building project in progress.

I am planning to continue workshop organizing. For Ger & hopefully Mary will come back as well. I would like to expand and continue bringing more amazing workshops to Salt Spring.

I will continue to build my new Integrated Health practice. My practice has been slowly building. I am still doing Physiotherapy but only as it relates to orthotics. Otherwise my practice, although it involves using much of my physiotherapy knowledge & modalities, uses a more holistic approach. Combining all the amazing experiences of healing I have had & learned about with my physiotherapy background.

I  hope that 2010 will bring more opportunities to assist people on their healing journeys. I love this work so much I find myself thinking “I cannot believe I get paid to do this”. Now that is a dream job.

As I sit here in this studio in Maui, typing this, the little geckos are laughing at me. Another reminder that it is really good to not take anything too seriously & have more fun. That will be my motto for 2010. Play more, laugh more & remember that nothing is permanent.

We wish you & your family all the joy & giggles you can handle for 2010.

Happy Holidays & may 2010 be filled with good health, enormous wealth & deep contentment.
